. Jane is an amazing human being, writer, and interviewer. She’s been an interviewer for thirty years and is, to my mind, the best out there. Right now, she’s the genius behind the Substack
Interviews are a great way to build your Substack and connect with other writers on the platform. Jane is the interviewer to learn from. Many, many author interviews are promotional and shallow, but Jane works in the tradition of The Paris Review and their Writers at Work series (yup, our namesake), which means she does a ton of research, dives deep, and brings out what other interviewer can’t from her interviewees.
Jane’s interviews have appeared in The Believer, Guernica, Tin House, Electric Literature, LA Review of Books, Interview Magazine, Longreads, and more.
Jane is also an incredible writer in her own right. Her work has appeared in The Sun Magazine, O, The Oprah Magazine, Creative Nonfiction, New England Review, Longreads, Narratively, Al Jazeera, Michigan Quarterly Review, Chicago Quarterly Review, The Huffington Post, Vogue, among others. She’s received notable mentions in Best American Essays and Best American Short Stories and holds an MFA from Columbia University.
This interview is pure gold. So sit back, go for a walk, or keep driving and enjoy my interview with Jane Radcliffe.
