My rereads are usually related to atmosphere, setting and place. I want to be in those worlds again, experiencing those things again. Off the top of my head The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova and Jeff Vandermeer's Annihilation are two I revisit every other year or so. They inspire me to create vivid settings in my own work.
Lily Bart is sitting on my nightstand. I can't wait to reread it! When I saw this post a few weeks ago it reminded me of the first time I read the book. It wasn't that long ago. And I sobbed as if I were in Lily's shoes. Ah, the subject of self-destruction is universal. Not all of us do so, but we've witnessed others who have. Unfortunately I am not a witness.
