Go Viral & Get Substack Subscribers! Find Your Notes Network
SUBSTACK FIRST FRIDAY OFFICE PARTY!
Welcome to the Substack Writer’s at Work Office Party! This is where you connect with the best, most engaged Substack writers and get publicity for your Substack.
Today, we’ll build your Notes network, so you can get traction on Notes, perhaps go viral (“viral” on Substack is relative), and get subscribers.
How do you quickly get a lot of Substack subscribers?
If your Note goes viral, you will get a big bump in subscribers. Period.
IMPORTANT!!!
Please don’t start creating silly social media images on Canva and writing Instagram platitudes.
Your Notes are much more likely to go viral if they’re genuine and entirely you.
There’s no “type” of Note that’s sure to go viral (despite what some people may try to tell you):
Nearly all Substack viral Notes have been plain old text.
Some have been short, others long.
Many have been restacks of excellent posts, others stand-alone thoughts.
Many have been deeply felt or hilarious insights, only a few have been Instagram-y commonplaces.
So how do you get a Note to go viral?
You build your Notes network here!
Algorithms privilege engagement. Your Note needs to get traction to go viral.
You get traction by having a Notes network of people looking out for you and ready to restack your Notes.
This is where you create your Notes network.
HOW THIS WORKS:
In all caps, write your Substack TITLE and TOPIC
Write 1 sentence describing what your Substack is about. (Just 1 sentence—write more and people will skip you.)
Then find at least 10 people whose Substacks interest you. Remember, this is about being genuine. Introduce yourself.
Follow or subscribe to them!
Restack their posts and Notes now and in the future to give them a fighting chance at going viral. (Here’s how to find a person’s Notes feed.)
